Randomness July 8, 2009 Edition

I just got back from the post office to mail (certified mail) my ticket to the municipal court.  Did I mention I got a speeding ticket?  I did.  It was a thrilling way to start last Thursday morning.  I’m requesting probation, which will, provided I don’t get another ticket in the next six months, ensure the ticket is dismissed.  What drives me crazy??  How chipper the officer was.  Like he just didn’t give me a written slap-down, and he’s all “hey, like your new car…hope you have a great day…life is beautiful…”   Yeah, yeah, shut up.  Don’t spread your sunshine over my cloud of grey.  Big happy doofus.  I’m less crabby now.  :)   Honest.

I am at lunch right now.  I brought my lunch today-tuna noodle salad and crackers.  It’s not the ultimate comfort food (that would be macaroni and cheese), but it’s a definite summer comfort food.  And the monster makes really good tuna noodle salad, too.

We’re having a quiet season at work right now.  I’m having to find stuff to do, which I’m not entirely used to.  It seems lately like it’s been feast or famine where work is concerned.  I prefer the feast as it makes the day go by faster.  And work-mom is taking tomorrow and Friday off, so not only will it be slow, it will be super quiet and lonely.  I’ll miss work-mom!!

Texas is hot right now.  It makes me miss Utah a little bit-not that it doesn’t get hot there-it definitely does.  But it doesn’t get quite so humid there.  For the most part, one hundred degrees in Salt Lake City, Utah feels like one hundred degrees with the heat index, not one hundred and nine degrees.  But Texas summer is the price we pay for Texas winter.  Texas winter is awesome.  Unless you love, love, love snow, in which case you’d probably prefer Utah winter.

I’m rambling.  I’m done rambling…

I hate UT winters, bleh! But the summers are tolerable. I’m more of a west coaster, So.CAL. Kinda girl. I don’t like all the changing. Sorry about the ticket….what kind of new car?? :-)

Yeah, I always hated Utah winters-too much snow, though I have to admit the first time it snowed after I moved there (I was about 14) was sort of magical. It lost its magical-ness quickly though!

It’s not really new anymore–about a year old. I bought a new Focus last summer-the 4 door model with moonroof and all the extras. It gets GREAT gas mileage, therefore I love it. :)

Ok, I am a Michigander born and bred; and I am NOT fond of winter. I love the snow, but not the cold. I also hate the way the snow gets grey and slushy from the cars driving through it. As far as I am concerned, the snow can come the morning of Christmas Eve and leave the day after Christmas! But, unlike Lunatic, at least I can drive in the snow without freaking out; and I know the difference between a few flakes and actual snow. I prefer summer, as long as it is not really hot and humid. The humidity affects my asthma really badly, and I like to breathe.

Lunatic is southern boy–southerners have NO CLUE how to drive in the snow. It makes them tense and anxious. So he’s lucky to have you to drive him around in the winters. But hopefully you won’t be there for much longer…

Hopefully we can be in Texas for good by February. Problem is, the doctor that Social Security sent him to because of his applying for disablity tried to tell him that he no longer has heart disease because his bypass was three years ago. He also tried to make him feel guilty about applying for disability. So, we don’t know what is happening with that. Plus, he has 2 questionaires for disabilty that he is supposed to fill out, and he has not done it yet. I keep reminding him, and he keeps putting it off. If he doesn’t get them filled out and sent in soon, they will drop his application.
